How do you prevent stinky basketball shoes?

I think you have to visit the store and try on a few models for yourself... feel the shoe, walk around with them on. ... coz what suits me may not suit you. My personal opinion is to get the older models, like the previous season high-ends at discounted prices. Then after a couple of months of hoops and wear and tear, get another new pair.

I think you have to visit the store and try on a few models for yourself... feel the shoe, walk around with them on. ... coz what suits me may not suit you. My personal opinion is to get the older models, like the previous season high-ends at discounted prices. Then after a couple of months of hoops and wear and tear, get another new pair.

Get the low top ones they have side to side movement and the ankle can bend any degree to get the most out of your cross overs. Just make sure you wipe down the bottom of the shoe with some thing wet. They will work like magic. Also Dwayne Wade%26#039;s new shoes are pretty good for street ballers.. Toenail problems due to basketball shoes...how well should shoes fit?
Sometimes when I play basketball at full court speed, I will feel a sudden pain in my toenails. There will then be bleeding underneath the nail. The toenail dies and a new one starts to grow to replace it. I was wondering if this injury could be due to the shoes I wear.
I currently wear a size 11. I thought these shoes were the most comfortable I could find, and I%26#039;ve already broken them in well. When I push my toes up so they hit the very front of the shoes, I can tightly slide my pointer finger through the back so it reaches the bottom of the sole.
I was wondering if these shoes fit correctly. Is there a criteria for proper size fitting? I%26#039;m not sure if i should try to move down half a size or not. This problem keeps reoccurring only when I play basketball. Thanks.

since u play basketball u stop and start a lot which pushes ur foot to the top, so they should also be long enough to stop this. u should be able to put ur pointer in, but to allow enough room or foot sliding maybe try putting ur thumb in sideways caz its thicker than ur pointer. dont move down a size, move up.

since u play basketball u stop and start a lot which pushes ur foot to the top, so they should also be long enough to stop this. u should be able to put ur pointer in, but to allow enough room or foot sliding maybe try putting ur thumb in sideways caz its thicker than ur pointer. dont move down a size, move up.

See, I have basketball practice tomorrow, and I don%26#039;t have room in my backpack for my basketball shoes, and my mom says that I can%26#039;t wear them off the court cuz it will ruin the treads or something, but also I need to break them in cuz last game someone asked me why I didn%26#039;t have basketball shoes, which is how I figured out that I needed them, and we have another game soon. Alreat i need some new basketball shoes. Im a point guard, im really fast, my 40 is a 4.5. I want a light shoe that is comfortable, i dont care about anything else. It can looks like cow poo or whatever. my feet are almost like duck feet so it has got to be a little wide at the end. PLEASE HELP

I just got into a discussion on one of the forums about the importance of basketball shoes on the indoor courts. I play a lot of pick up and played in several intramurals. I personally think shoes do matter as I saw many streetballers in taped snickers catching their breath face down on the court.
So the question is: on the indoor court do shoes help your performance, agility, speed, stability etc? Taped oldschool vs Air Jordans. What do you think? What%26#039;s your experience?

Yes they do. I look for stability (esp the ankle part) and comfort. I like shoes snug (not tight) and a bit comforting after you land from jumping. Old school shoes are great and durable but nothing compares to the comfort and technology to the newer models. I like the Shox and the airmax versions. I also wear a3 but I can%26#039;t seem to feel the presence of the columns. My experience with Jordans and the Nike line is that the Jordans are way much comfortable. I think they use a different kind of insole. For me, Nike/Jordan are the most comfortable, adidas are durable, Reebok is a hit and miss with the styles- they are comfortable but doesnt offer good traction, Converse are catching up and they are comfortable (on some models) too. And1 is ok (the price doesnt create holes in your pockets also). Hope this helps. All these are based on personal experience.

i%26#039;ve been running my miles on the track with basketball shoes. everyone tells me to get running shoes and that its better. i dont get why? basketball shoes have support and stuff too.

Buy some new running shoes, make sure you are fitted properly, and you will run better. By the way, in my 20 years of distance running - Asics are my favorite shoe.

My basketball shoes are not gripping well on the indoor court at my school. What can I do?
The floor at my school appears to be regular hardwood. I don%26#039;t know what the problem is. I just bought two new pairs, one of them was a bargain deal on some K-Swiss basketball shoes and the others were the Gilbert Arenas shoes. Neither of them grip very well and it takes from my quickness. Nobody else seems to be having this problem. I don%26#039;t know if its me or the shoes. Has anyone ever encountered this while playing and do you know of any remedies, like can I rub something on the bottom of my shoes to help them grip better? Or do I just need to get new shoes and if so what do I look for when buying them so I know they grip well to the floor.

My foot is about 11 inches, but I wear a size 12 shoe normally (casual shoe). I have always worn size 12 basketball shoes, but today I bought a size 13. I did this because my toes used to bleed all the time from hitting up against the shoe, and I also wear 4-5 pairs of socks when I play, so it makes my foot bigger. There is about an inch between the end of my toes and the end of the shoe, but the shoe fits perfectly and doesn%26#039;t slip or slide. I was just wondering if anyone else does this, or if perhaps it could cause injury? Thanks,

After that I did research and it seems that the addition of more socks suffocates your feet, giving it lack of air. Its possible it may cause athletes foot as well, especially if you play a lot. I recommend just downsizing back to your regular size and finding shoes better suited to your feet. After about 3 pairs, I got a set of answer 3s and they worked wonders. So my assumption is that its about picking the right shoe. If you play for a team and they require a shoe dress code, just ask the coach and tell him about your condition. Good luck.

Traction for basketball shoes?
I bought a pair of shoes that were supposed to be made for basketball %26amp; volleyball instead of buying basketball shoes AND volleyball shoes because it%26#039;s really expensive. The shoes are great for volleyball, but for basketball they don%26#039;t have enough traction and I keep on running into people and sliding and stuff like that because there%26#039;s not enough traction. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the shoes to have more traction?

I know it sounds gross but it does work. Or rub your shoes with a very damp towel during timeout, it helps your shoes grasp the floor better.

The nike shox elites have way more grip on the shoe(I am not the fastest person on my team but every time we did suicides I won) they are way better.

The nike shox elites have way more grip on the shoe(I am not the fastest person on my team but every time we did suicides I won) they are way better.

I would buy the Formidable II because it is cheaper. its just as good as the Elite II and I think it looks better.

My current shoes are 17.5 oz and i%26#039;m looking for shoes that are light but can support my size 15 feet like they do. the shoes feel great but they make me slower and I cant jump as high as should be. I perfer Nike and i%26#039;ve been looking to see how many oz Nike Air Max Elite II TB are but i cant find it out surprisingly..I also want shoes that look nice and i would like if i could customize them to my school colors

Depending on you position, if ure a guard i think i low cut shoe which is light with good grip. The low cut will give you the mobility a guard needs. A power foreward or centre a shoe that supports ure ankles alot and are very stable. Or my favourite the cross between both. My favourite shoe is the Nike zoom hurrache 2k5 or 2k4. I think you should look into these shoes. They may be a bit old but they are super light with good grip. They have a very stable base and have high ankle support with a ankle strap. If you looking for a lightweight shoe which is a mix between both. That is your shoe.

Not using the right kind of athletic equipment (this goes for any sport) will add to the risk of injury. bball shoes are specifically designed to adapt to the rigors of the game which include a lot of running, jumping, laterals, and all sorts of leg movements. the soles are designed to prevent you from slipping and to cushion your feet when you come down from a jump. some soles improve traction and even allow your feet to %26quot;breathe%26quot;.
though, i might not suggest for you to go for cheap shoes. your shoes are the most basic equipments of your game. i think it would be best for you to shell out a bit of cash to get really good ones. it would be like an investment for you. besides, nothing beats the feeling of the adrenaline rush you get from stepping on to the court in a pair of sweeeet air jordans! :)
