Basketball shoes?

Some high school basketball teams have Nike footwear for their team. Some high Adidas footwear for their team. Other teams have other brands of footwear like Reebok or And1. Why do different teams have different brands? Is it the coach%26#039;s decision? How does a high school basketball coach make a decision about what shoes to get from each brand (for example, if he were to get Nike footwear, how would he go about choosing what specific shoe for their team (i.e. Nike Air Zoom Huarache TB))?

Nike is the best basketball shoe u can get......um.. usually the players or some1 pick what shoes that they want the team to get!
Reply:Most schools probably choose their team%26#039;s basketball shoes based on price. Many schools are only allowed to buy things that are of the cheapest price so it depends on which manufacturer offers them the lowest price. However, exceptions to this may be made in private schools where funding is not tax related. It is probably up to the board of education in that township. The purchasing of shoes may also be at the coach%26#039;s decision, depending on how involved he/she is. Beyond that, the shoes may simply be bought for color or durability.

Reply:At the high school level I%26#039;ve never heard of anyone being sponsored. From my experience NIKE is the best and usually had the best prices for what you get. Jordans are nice, but insanely expensive. Adidas works but I%26#039;ve always had trouble with stability. Once you%26#039;ve chosen a brand you can always go to a local sports store and ask a clerk or manager of what they think is the best shoe for that brand, they%26#039;re pretty knowledgeable on this stuff, plus you can try out the shoes for comfort and support (you definately want ankle support). Black is a safe bet for color, but trying to find shoes with team colors is cool too. Nike does have the option of ordering shoes with certain colors online.


Also if you get, or know someone who gets the sports catalogs their prices are typically cheaper than the ones you%26#039;ll find in the stores.

Reply:Sometimes the athletic director of a school will select the type of shoes to get. Sometimes teams will get sponsored by a certain brand, and they get most of their equipment from that brand. I would guess that teams would go with the brand that carried their school colors. I mean, if your school colors were maroon and gold and Reebok didn%26#039;t carry those colors....why go with Reebok?





So, that%26#039;s my guess. For specific shoes, you would have take into consideration look, price, and whether the team likes them or not.
Reply:in high school its simple some coaches want the team to wear all the same shoes or a close few styles. a shoe salesman comes in giving a discount on shoes of these that are coach approved and most kids buy them sincethere about $20 off normal price.
