Basketball shoes?

I know this might be a dumb question, but are basketball shoes good for tennis? A friend of mine said they are because they provide support for your ankle or something...is he right?

Basketball shoes?
Basketball shoes aren%26#039;t the worst thing you can wear on the court, but they are made for wood floors, not hard courts. So they might wear out quicker. I%26#039;m not quite sure they give you the lateral support you need in tennis either. I like to slide an be able to stop on a dime - I%26#039;d roll my ankle in a pair of basketball shoes trying to slide.

But I suppose its what suits your game best. They are certainly better than running shoes. I%26#039;ve seen a few idiots on the tennis court in running shoes before.
Reply:I dont think there would be much of a difference...kids at my school wehre basketbal shoes for it. But if the are 3 1/4 inch tops yea hes right
Reply:just make sure that you have enough support for your ankles because tennis is a lot of side to side motion with sudden stopping. I would recommend getting tennis shoes. For me throughout my 4 seasons of tennis my fav. shoe was Nike. Nike %26quot;tennis%26quot; shoes are great because they have a very wide width which is great for support. Not to mention they are always cute haha but who cares about that;)
Reply:i use skater shoes to play tennis since they are so comfy. but they do wear out fast by the way i play (sliding a lot!) and no im not gonna break my ankle...i know how to slide right.

idk but skating is a pretty extreme sport so if its good enough for that...it should handle tennis.
Reply:this is a tennis place can%26#039;t you see?
Reply:basketball shoes are horrible for running to balls. if i were you, go to an online tennis shop and look for actual tennis shoes. i have the prince mv4s and they are really comfortable and have good traction.
